Abnormal Named a 2022 Microsoft Security Customer Champion Finalist

Abnormal has been selected as a Security Customer Champion finalist in the Microsoft Security Excellence Awards! Here’s a look at why.
May 12, 2022

We are delighted to announce that Abnormal has been selected as a finalist for the Security Customer Champion category in the Microsoft Security Excellence Awards! We place a high value on the growing partnership between Abnormal and Microsoft, and we’re thrilled to be acknowledged for our commitment to our customers.

Now in its third year, the Microsoft Security Excellence Awards recognize members of the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association (MISA) that have demonstrated success within the security landscape over the prior twelve months. As a relatively new member of MISA, we recognize that being selected as a finalist is an exceptional achievement, and we could not be more proud.

Here’s a look at how Abnormal and Microsoft work together and why the company was chosen as a Security Customer Champion award finalist.

Abnormal, Microsoft, and MISA

The Microsoft Intelligent Security Association (MISA) is a network of independent software vendors and managed security service providers that have integrated their solutions with Microsoft’s security technology to better defend against evolving cyber threats.

As a MISA member, Abnormal complements Microsoft’s built-in security capabilities to more effectively protect our mutual customers against the full spectrum of email attacks. Microsoft identifies “known bad” and similar to known bad, while Abnormal models “known good” to identify anomalies. Together, Microsoft’s threat intelligence-based approach and Abnormal’s AI-based behavior technology provide organizations with defense-in-depth protection that prevents all types of email attacks.

With Microsoft and Abnormal, organizations can retire their traditional secure email gateways (SEGs) that lack the functionality to defend against modern threats. Abnormal’s one-click API integration with Microsoft 365 allows companies to reduce the complexity of their security stack, maximize their existing investment in Microsoft, and improve SOC efficiency—all while keeping the business safe from socially-engineered attacks.

Security Customer Champion Criteria

To be considered for the Security Customer Champion Award, an organization must be committed to going above and beyond to drive customer impact and have a proven track record of customer satisfaction.

These organizations work hand-in-hand with Microsoft to help protect their customers either via end-to-end security services or deep product integrations that complement Microsoft security. Along with helping define and execute security strategies and roadmaps, they support their customers in addressing and resolving security challenges.

In short, Security Customer Champions embrace a customer-obsessed culture—a value that is embedded into Abnormal’s DNA. Of the nearly 500 current MISA members, only 30 are selected to be Microsoft Security Excellence Awards finalists across all categories. To be among those 30 is exciting in itself, but to be nominated specifically for an award that focuses on customer obsession is especially outstanding.

Looking Ahead

Despite the fact that our email security platform has only been available for three years, our roots with Microsoft already run deep. In addition to being a MISA member, we are a Microsoft AI Inner Circle Partner and a Microsoft Preferred Solution on the Azure Marketplace. We are honored to be endorsed as an industry leader and look forward to expanding and strengthening our partnership with Microsoft.
